Psychiatric Emergency Clinic
At Vaasa Central Hospital, psychiatric patients have access to in- and outpatient care 24 hours a day. A referral is always needed for psychiatric treatment or assessment of need for treatment. The need for referral is assessed either at the patient's own health centre or at the Central Hospital Accident & Emergency Clinic (after 4.00 p.m.).
During office hours, a physician considering referral should always first consult a doctor at a Psychiatry Outpatient Clinic and out of office hours the doctor on emergency duty at the Department of Psychiatry.
During office hours, emergency assessment and admission to hospital are carried out at the Psychiatric Emergency Clinic open from Monday to Friday from 8.00 a.m. to 3.30 p.m., tel. 213 2392.
In psychiatry, the physician on-call is usually at home and comes to the hospital as necessary.
Nurse on call
There is a psychiatric nurse on call at the Accident & Emergency Clinic from 4.00 p.m. to 7.00 a.m. on weekday evenings and nights and 24 hours a day during weekends.
