We offer help and support for victims of sexual violence
“Sexual violence is a form of violence referring to touching, abuse, harassment, incest, rape, and forcing someone to engage in humiliating or shameful sexual activities” THL
Have you or someone close to you experienced sexual violence?
Seri Support Centre at Vaasa central hospital is a care centre for victims of sexual violence. We offer you prompt help and support. You can seek help on your own initiative or guided by the authorities – a referral is not required. You can always call in advance and ask for advice.
We recommend that you seek help as soon as possible after the violence has occurred, in order for forensic examinations to succeed, but at the latest within a month of the incident. You can come alone or together with a support person.
At the support centre you receive help from doctors and nurses, if needed also from a psychiatric nurse, social worker and hospital chaplain. We also cooperate with other organisations and can guide you to the support you need.
Services free of charge for everyone regardless of gender
Victims of sexual violence have the right to all services of the Seri Support Centre. The services are free of charge and available to persons of at least 16 years of age, regardless of gender. The centre is open 24/7, but some of the services are only available on weekdays during standard business hours. A police report of the incident is not required, but strongly advised.
